Meet Derek and Jo Clark
We are Derek and Jo, founders of Holistic Equitation™ and creators of Schooling Made Simple™… a system that’s been used by riders all over the world to develop cooperative and enthusiastic horses who are easy to ride and enjoy their work so much they practically beg to be ridden.
Everything we do is based on seeing the world from a horse’s point of view. We’ve both been serious athletes ourselves (we first met in the Olympic rowing team), which means we bring a unique understanding to the horse world of exactly how it feels to be the one doing the hard work and being told what to do all the time!
While running our own riding school we introduced Philippe Karl and his School of Légèreté (Lightness) to the UK. As well as helping thousands of horses and their riders through our own work, we also hosted and organised Monsieur Karl’s teacher training courses for over 10 years.
Derek is a former Olympic coach, a sports psychology expert, and has been a Licensed Teacher of the School of Légèreté since 2016. Jo is a qualified Remedial Saddle Fitter and Equine Podiatrist and trained with Philippe Karl for 5 years.
